Hana Yori Dango has captivated us – both in print and in television – with its funny, quirky and romantic story line. It all started with a manga then an anime adaptation. After that, Taiwan attempted to create a live action out of it entitled Meteor Garden. Japan followed with Hana Yori Dango then Korea with Boys Over Flowers. China also followed with Meteor Shower. All dramas are very successful and remarkable.
The manga is already a closed book story. Only the live action adaptations feed the fangirls’ hearts about the story. With a story line that is one of the best, it’s really hard to let go. Because of that, I started looking for stories that have a somewhat similar plot. Luckily I have one, it’s in print (a manga) entitled Koi Yori Kiss Yori Daikirai.
How is it similar to Hana Yori Dango?
With only 3 chapters released, here are the only similarities that I have spotted:
- The guy is super rich while the girl is really poor.
- The lead guy character has an elite air surrounding him.
- There is a ‘nice guy’ in the story too! The one who’s always there for the girl.
- The family of the girl wants to girl to marry into the guy’s family to save them from poverty. On the other hand, the girl doesn’t want that since he’s not into the guy.
Here are additional similarities based on what I’ve seen (from the raws):
- The two will later on be deeply in love but they will have a thorny path in terms of their love story. But don’t worry, it will end in a happy ending.
